Whenever I begin developing a painting, it always starts with small, quick sketches. When a sketch shows potential, I create a larger, more refined drawing on vellum — which often becomes the foundation for a final painting. I work with vellum because of its slight transparency, which allows me to easily mirror the image. This is a technique I learned and relied on during my time creating stone lithographs, where drawing in reverse was essential.
Recently, I revisited the many sketches I’ve saved over the past 40 years. For this edition, I’ve selected five of them and will refine each one — allowing the original idea to fully emerge. As some of the drawings are still in progress, I cannot yet reveal them all. However, the first one is When Woman Rule the World, and the remaining four will be posted as they are completed — and made available for immediate purchase. Each drawing is done on vellum, framed in a passepartout, and presented together with the book and special book marker in a beautifully embossed gold handmade box.
