Lieuwe van Gogh

Biography

Lieuwe van Gogh, born in Amsterdam, 1991, is a descendant family member of Vincent van Gogh. His father was filmmaker Theo van Gogh, murdered by a muslim extremist in 2004.

Lieuwe started painting already from a young age and graduated Mix Art Academy when he was just 16. After years of working in the kitchen as a sous-chef, he developed his own unique and recognizable style of painting with squeezebottles and cutlery.

Lieuwes debut solo exposition, opened by the Dutch State Secretary for Culture & Media and under the attention of all main press, attracted an audience from all over the country and abroad, and sold out in 3 days. Now: talented, living true young Van Gogh became already a Trademark – to conquer our planet. His work is powerful, colorful and expressive.

Marcel Salome about Lieuwe van Gogh

My first encounter with the work of Lieuwe van Gogh was several years ago, when we at Re-Art had to make scans of his paintings. His work immediately caught my attention; it was clear that this was a young, talented artist in the midst of his development. A few years later, I attended his first major solo exhibition. It was then that I became completely captivated and truly recognized his talent and his unique, uninhibited way of painting. What made it even more extraordinary was the fact that Lieuwe van Gogh, as the son of Theo van Gogh, is a direct descendant of the great Vincent van Gogh. As I stood there taking in the exhibition, I thought, “This must be in his DNA.” It felt almost as though I was witnessing a reincarnation of Vincent van Gogh.

Lieuwe van Gogh works in the way I believe a true artist should: boldly, expressively, and with complete freedom. He creates what he wants, without concern for whether it is commercially viable. To me, this is what defines the true gems of art: you either love it or you hate it – but it always makes you think, and it always moves you.

When I saw his second solo exhibition, my initial impression was fully confirmed. I could see how much he had grown and evolved as an artist. My wife and I were proud to be among the first to purchase an original piece of his work. This piece now hangs in our home, and we say with pride: “We have a real Van Gogh.”

We are honored to collaborate with this extraordinary talent. Through our partnership with Lieuwe van Gogh, we are delighted to offer his limited editions through Salome Art Venture. It is a privilege to be part of his artistic journey and to share his unique vision with art lovers around the world.
